Elements and Principles of Design
The painting chosen for analysis is Virgin and Child with Canon George van der Paele by famous Renaissance artist Jan Van Eyck. According to numerous researchers of Eyck’s work, the canvas is the most elaborate and impressive demonstration of the artist’s fascination with optical concepts and effects. Such primary elements that serve as a basis for every piece of art as space, lines, shapes, light, texture, and colors will be analyzed in the paper. Moreover, such principles of design as placement, balance, emphasis, unity and variety, harmony, proportions, and depth of the painting will be described in the essay.
Analyzing the space of the piece, one can claim that it is a 2-dimentional painting as it is flat and can be viewed from the one side. The lines in the picture are straight and distinct; viewers can easily differentiate objects and people from one another and notice small details. Shapes of the objects are realistic. Business ethics refers to a set of moral principle and standards set aside to study proper business policies and practices regarding certain business growth in an ethical way. It differentiates between the right and wrong, later making the right choice and includes moral principles that guide on how a business behaves.
